"Frozen" Official Trailer!!!!

Ladies and gentleman! The official trailer has arrived!!! Many of you are familiar with the teaser trailer of the snowman, Olaf,  and the moose, racing to get his carrot nose. Some of you also may be  familiar with Japan's official version! Well, now we can finally watch the official trailer in English!

-------------------> Click here for Frozen Official Trailer <----------------------

After watching the trailer, I feel more confident about the movie and it looks hilarious!! Although, I do wish they would have shown more of Elsa, the Snow Queen since she is voiced by the amazing Idina Menzel (Wicked, Rent, Enchanted). Then again, I think it's great that we don't really know too much about her and it leaves us in curiosity, engaging us to go see the movie.

My concerns for this film is that, Olaf, the magic talking snowman, may seem slightly annoying, but I could be wrong. Also, there was a scene in the movie where Anna and Olaff are near a fireplace and she says "Olaf, you're melting." and Olaf responds with: "Some people are worth melting for." and you can see the sadness in their faces. Did Disney just reveal that Olaf is not going to live throughout the movie? Hmm...or...it could just be one of those moments where they just happens to be in a warm house and he's just happening to be melting. I'm probably over thinking it.

Overall, I'm excited to see how they play out relationship between two sisters, Anna and Elsa, in this film. I hope it will teach something to audiences with sisters and this could be a great movie to go to with your sister for bonding time!

What do you all think about Disney's Frozen? Do you believe it will be great? Or will it be a Disney flop? Why? What makes you excited this film?

Tinkerbell. Peter Pan V. Pixie Hollow

I found the picture above on Pinterest and when I read the text on the picture, it made me stop and think and I started to nod my head in agreement. Yes! Tinkerbell in Pixie Hollow has somewhat of a different personality than the Tinkerbell in Peter Pan. I honestly enjoyed the first Pixie Hollow movie because of the background story on Tinkerbell. And sure, she was born from a baby's laugh and had such an innocence to her, which didn't bother me so much, but then when Disney began coming out with other Pixie Hollow movies and then looking at the photo above, it made me stop and think: Where's Tinkerbell's sassy attitude?

If you ask me, I say Disney gave Tink's original personality to Vidia and decided not to give any to Tink, being that she's the main character. I can understand why, because if Disney decided to stick with her personality from Peter Pan, little girls may pick-up on it. Vidia is a friend of Tink's, however, she can be a jerk. And Disney needs Tinkerbell to point out that Vidia's attitude is hurtful and isn't the RIGHT way to act, and blah, blah, blah.

In Peter Pan, Tink is more hot tempered, feisty, stubborn, sassy, and mischievous.

In Pixie Hollow, Tink is well...the opposite. Disney toned her down. A lot.

Honestly speaking, the whole world loved Tinkerbell for her sass in the first place! But of course, we have to keep in mind that Pixie Hollow was BEFORE Tinkerbell met Peter Pan. So, basically, how did Tink go from this sweet fairy to a jealousy, sassy one?

Do you think Tinkerbell is different? Do you recognize any of the qualities she had in Peter Pan in any of her current Pixie Hollow movies?

The Little Mermaid Is Flipping Its Fins To Live-Action.

(Disney's The Little Mermaid)

It appears that Hollywood are creating plenty of adaptions on fairy tale stories that we've known from The Brother's Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson, or perhaps only seen them in Disney movies. So far, I've posted blogs about Disney creating Live-Action films such as the upcoming Maleficent and Cinderella. Now, there's news about The Little Mermaid. However, I don't think this will be in t he hands of Disney.

The bigger news is that, Kelly Marcel, the screenwriter who is adapting the book, 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James will be the one who will write this live-action movie. She was also the screenwriter  for Saving Mr. Banks & the show Terra Nova. Some people seem to feel a bit uneasy about Marcel writing the story know that she is also writing for the exotic 50 Shades of Grey film, for there is a lot of sexual activity in the series. Will, she bring sex to the The Little Mermaid? Honestly, I hardly think she will. I don't even think they'll go that route.

To lighten things up a bit, Joe Wright is said to direct the adaption and he is known  for his films such as Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, Hanna, & Anna Karenina. I absolutely loved those films, especially the visuals from Anna Karenina. It was a beautiful piece of art on the big screen, in my opinion, along with Atonement. I don't have any doubts about Wright sinking down this ship.

Though, my biggest concern is the mood for this live-action film. Will it be silly, fun, and comedic, or will it be somewhat fun yet have a darker vision. I really hope they go for something dark, twisted, yet fun and adventurous.

I'm sure many of you are asking who will play the little mermaid, but unfortunately, none has been named yet.
Though, if I were to choose the cast, these would be my choices:
  1. Joanna Garcia
  2. Emma Watson
  3. Dianna Argon
  4. Amy Adams
  5. Lily Collins
  6. Ariana Grande

How do you feel about The Little Mermaid being turned into a live-action film? Should it be different from Disney's version and have a darker mood or keep it light? Who would you choose to play the little mermaid?

Princess Tiana and Drama

Apparently, people are still complaining about Princess Tiana being a frog for the entire movie...

Last week, I got into a heated argument with a woman on Facebook in this page called "Mixed Chicks" (not the hair product). This Facebook page celebrates people who are mixed along with celebrating interracial couples, families, etc. One day, as I was scrolling my newsfeed, a fan posted this question:

I think it's time to come out with a "mixed" princess. We have Pocahontas, Mulan, Esmeralda was a gypsy, Anastasia was Russian, Tiana, Ariel and Merida with red hair, Jasmine, Cinderella and Aurora with blonde hair, Belle with brown hair, Snow white with black hair, Sophia, you catch my drift.

My daughter is Sicilian, Moroccan, Ecuadorian and Puerto Rican. I will teach her about all of the different diversities, etc. But who does to have to "look up to" be able to have things in common with? She says, "Mommy how come none of them look like me?" I mean, they don't have to go deep into making a mixed family, even just a "black & white" mix just to start. I think its time... interracial families and mixing are here to stay. Thoughts?

(Yes, we all know Anastasia isn't Disney).
I agree with this post along with many others who are members Mixed Chicks. And sure, I know some of you are thinking "why does it even matter"? But let's face the facts because to a majority of people, it does matter. It's sad, but true.

Now, as I was scrolling to read some of the comments, I came across a fan, who we'll call 'Jane', and she mentioned that even though Tiana is Disney's first African American princess, she was a frog "the whole damn time in the movie. There were so many stereotypes in this movie too."
Seeing this comment really got to me because of two reasons:

  1. I felt that she was unappreciative about the fact that Disney actually decided to make an African American princess.
  2. She didn't really see the bigger picture of Tiana's character being a woman; especially being an African American woman
I'm denying that there are stereotypes in Disney movies, especially in their past movies, but there are stereotypes in EVERYTHING, no matter what the case and it only bothers us because we allow it to. Also, what child is going to notice the negatives when clearly there are positive lessons to be learned in Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

Here were some of Jane's observations/negatives:
  • Tiana didn't have a dad growing up
  • The "ethnic" people in the beginning didn't believe in Tiana's dreams
  • Tiana only married Naveen for his money.
  • Dr. Facilier (The Shadow Man) wanted to take a "rich white man's money" (stereotype)
  • Mama Odie, Tiana's Mom, and Ray were all stereotypes
  • Why couldn't Disney make an African American Prince?

These are some of the positives of Princess Tiana's character that I had pointed out to Jane:
  • Tiana is independent and hardworking
  • Could care less about partying.
  • She doesn't get saved the Prince; she's the one that steps up.
  • Tiana agreed to help Naveen if he kept his promise about helping her build her restaurant in the beginning and throughout their journey. However, the two ended up falling in love through their journey and learned from each other. Naveen showed Tiana how to live a little and let loose. Tiana showed him how to mince; do things on his own. She didn't marry him for his money at all.
  • The Shadow Man is the ANTAGONIST and is supposed to do bad deeds.
  • Tiana had a father but he died  WHILE she was growing up.
  • Just because they gave Ray a southern accent doesn't mean that it's a stereotype, most people (not all), who live in the south have accents.
  • Jane never did explain to me how Mama Odi and Tiana's Mom were stereotypes.
  • Maybe Naveen was black, but is just born in France. Maybe he was mixed? I honestly have no idea what his ethnicity is, so you'll just have to ask Disney.

It's strange how people who are mixed or African American can get angry about how Disney had stereotype characters for The Princess & the Frog, however, you don't hear anyone complain about the stereotypes since the years of Fat Albert or Disney Channel's The Proud Family, or anything that's shown on BET! So, exactly, WHAT is there to complain about? Why is Disney's The Princess  & The Frog a big deal?

All I have to say is, relax! Stop being so overly sensitive! It's just a Disney movie for the whole family to enjoy!

How do you feel about The Princess & the Frog?? Do you agree with Jane? Feel free to post your comments below. I'm curious to know how you all feel about this as well.
